Abstract
This study investigated the correlation between warehouse management system (WMS) and performance of downstream oil and gas companies in Port Harcourt, focusing on how WMS relates to cost reduction, productivity and safe production. Founded on Technology Acceptance Model, the study adopted correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population of the study comprised 23 downstream oil and gas companies. All the companies were studied because the population is small. However, 81 respondents provided data for the study through a semi-structured questionnaire designed in 5–point Likert scale. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis was conducted and the results of the analysis revealed that WMS relates positively and significantly to cost reduction, productivity and safe production. Thus, the study concluded that a positive and significant correlation exists between WMS and performance of downstream oil and gas companies operating in Port Harcourt; and recommends downstream oil and gas companies should prioritize acquisition and integration of robust WMS platforms that align with their operational scale and complexity.
